TOPIC This document explains how to determine the version of WebObjects installed on a particular system. DISCUSSION Mac OS X (Server) 10.0
Look in:
This file contains both the product version and the build version for the software. See the table in this article to match the build version with the WebObjects version. Mac OS X Server 1.2 Look in: /Local/Library/Receipts You will see a list of .pkg files representing the installed software. To find out the exact version, press command-shift-O to open the .pkg folder and look at the software_version file inside. This file will contain the build name for the software. See the table below to match the build name with the WebObjects version. The file may also include a product name, such as "WebObjects 3.5 Prerelease Developer". These names are not always accurate and should be ignored; use the build name to identify the release. The WebObjects and EOF components are not tracked separately; only the WebObjects version number is given.
Look in: /NextLibrary/Receipts You will see a list of .pkg files representing the installed software.
Look in : $NEXT_ROOT/NextLibrary/Receipts/WOF/software.ver (WebObjects 3.5.1 and previous releases) or $NEXT_ROOT/Library/Receipts/PDO/software.ver (WebObjects 4.x) This file will contain the build name for the software. See the table below to match the build name with the WebObjects version. The file may also include a product name, such as "WebObjects 3.5 Prerelease Developer". These names are not always accurate and should be ignored; use the build name to identify the release. The WebObjects, EOF, and PDO components are not tracked separately; only the WebObjects version number is given. If you have installed a patch or update, this version file has not been updated. See article 70148 for instructions on determining which version you have installed.
On Windows NT 4 or Windows 2000, log in as a user with Administrator privileges and select "About Apple Software" or "About NeXT Software" from the WebObjects program group in the Start menu. A panel will appear containing the build name for your versions of WebObjects. See the table below to match the build name with the WebObjects version. The panel may also list a product name, such as "WebObjects 3.5 Prerelease Developer". These names are not always accurate and should be ignored; use the build name to identify the release. The WebObjects, EOF, and PDO components are not tracked separately; only the WebObjects version number is given. This area will also contain entries for any installed WebObjects patches. If no WebObjects versions are listed in the panel, you can also check the WebObjects registry entries for the major version of WebObjects. Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE , look at the entry for SOFTWARE\Apple or SOFTWARE\NeXT\WebObjects. You should see another folder or registry entry containing the major WebObjects version, for example, 3.5 or 4.0.
WebObjects Build Names The following are the build names for the released versions of WebObjects. If your version file contains a build name that is not on this list, it is probably a prerelease or beta version.
