TOPIC Q: When deploying a WebObjects 4 application on Windows NT or Windows 2000, I get an error message saying that the WebObjects.conf file could not be created. DISCUSSION A: This message occurs if WebObjects can't write to the directory where it expects to write its temporary files. To fix this, open the Windows Registry Editor, REGEDIT.EXE. In the registry, find the directory HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NeXT\WebObjects\Configuration. There should be five entries in this directory: Default, CGI_BIN, DOCUMENT_ROOT, NEXT_ROOT, and TEMP. Make sure that the TEMP directory is set to a directory where WebObjects has write privileges. The entry should be formatted like: TEMP "c:/inetpub/conf/" Be sure to use forward slashes for the pathname, not backslashes. |
