TOPIC Some users have reported dropped frames when trying to play back rendered clips in Final Cut Pro Version 1.2.5. This article discusses how to correct this by replacing the Final Cut Pro QTM Reader version 1.2.5 plug-in, with QTM Reader version 1.2.6.
DISCUSSION Symptom While playing back rendered clips in Final Cut Pro 1.2.5, a "Dropped Frames" message appears. Solution Some, but not all, users of Final Cut Pro 1.2.5 have reported dropped frames on clips that require rendering, such as clips with filters, transitions, or motion tab settings applied to them. After rendering, playback of these clips resulted in dropped frames that cannot be attributed to any of the issues outlined in article 58640: " Final Cut Pro: Dropped Frames and Loss of Audio Sync ". This issue may be resolved by replacing QTM Reader 1.2.5 with QTM Reader 1.2.6. To replace the plug-in: 1. Download QTM Reader 1.2.6. 2. Make sure the Final Cut Pro application is not open. 3. Open the Plugins folder inside of the Final Cut Pro application folder. 4. Find the plug-in called QTM Reader. 5. Create another folder inside the Final Cut Pro application folder- not inside of the Plugins folder-and name it "Unused Plugins". Drag QTM Reader to this folder. 6. Drag QTM Reader 1.2.6 into the Plugins folder. It is important to keep the earlier version of QTM Reader for possible future use. With these steps completed, you can open Final Cut Pro again. You do not need to restart the computer. Note: After updating to QTM Reader 1.2.6, try playing back your previously rendered sequences to make sure that they no longer drop frames. If there are areas in your project that continue to drop frames on playback, rerendering should fix them.
