TOPIC

I would like to know how much mass (weight) I can place on top of my Macintosh. How heavy a monitor can the cases of desktop Macintosh computers support?

DISCUSSION

Two issues usually dictate what you put on top of the computer: stability and ergonomics. For instance a tall, heavy monitor placed on a computer with a small footprint, such as a Macintosh IIci or Macintosh LC, would be less stable than the same monitor placed on a Macintosh II. Also, if the monitor is perched too high relative to the angle of sight, the issue of ergonomics may become a factor. The best approach is to experiment with different placements of a computer and monitor.
