I'm trying to connect my PowerBook (FireWire) to another computer through FireWire Target Disk Mode (TDM). However, the PowerBook hard disk never appears on the desktop of the host computer.
DISCUSSION
Make sure you are following the directions in the following article:

Most importantly, the host computer must have Mac OS 8.6 or later and FireWire 2.3 or later installed.
If you are still unable to get the PowerBook hard disk to appear on the desktop of the host computer, you may be running into an issue with FireWire TDM that requires a software update. To remedy this issue, use the Software Update control panel to download and install Mac OS 9 Update (9.0.4) on the host computer. You can also download the update from Apple Software Updates at
http://www.apple.com/swupdates/
