TOPIC

Error messages may appear when trying to remotely shut down or restart a client workstation running Macintosh Manager and Network Assistant 4.0

DISCUSSION

    Symptom
One of the following messages appears when trying to shut down a client workstation from the administrator's console:

      • There is a modal dialog on the client.
      • You are not permitted to change file sharing settings.

    Products affected
    • Macintosh Manager
    • Network Assistant 4.0

    Solution
When using Network Assistant's Shut Down or Restart command you have the option to let users save their work before the workstation restarts, or to restart immediately. If you see an error that a modal dialog is on the screen which prevents the client workstation from restarting, choose Restart Immediately. If you see an error about file sharing, choose Allow user to save their work.
