    The Power Mac G4 computer beeps four or five times at startup. Four or five beeps means that the ROM is probably bad and cannot be fixed.

    Symptom

    The Power Mac G4 computer beeps four or five times at startup.

    Solution

      1. Four or five beeps means that the ROM is probably bad and cannot be fixed.

      2. Remove all third-party hardware from the computer, including RAM, PCI cards, hard drives, external USB devices, and FireWire devices. Reinstall one at a time, starting up after each addition.

      3. Replace logic board.
