Symptom

The video display on the Power Mac G4 is distorted.

DANGER! This procedure exposes you to high voltages that can result in death or serious injury. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS PROCEDURE IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN CERTIFIED AS AN APPLE-AUTHORIZED TECHNICIAN.

1. If using an Apple monitor: Adjust the focus using the Display Adjustment Utility found online or on the MacTest Pro CD.

2. If using third-party monitors: Try a known-good monitor.

3. Check and reseat the video cable.

4. Check the video adapter if using one. Refer to article 95058: " Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics): VGA-to-Macintosh Adapter " .

5. Adjust the screen geometry using the Display Adjustment Utility found online or on the MacTest Pro CD.

6. Adjust the cutoff or white balance using the Display Adjustment and Display Service Utilities found online or on the MacTest Pro CD.

7. Refer to the monitor's owner's manual for additional information.
