This article discusses Newton's memory capacity and how to use it efficiently.
DISCUSSION As you work with your Newton MessagePad, the items you enter will use space. To determine how much memory you have remaining, Check the "user data" in the Memory area in the Preferences menu area. If you fill up Newton's available memory, you cannot write anything new in Newton until you delete some of the old information, or install a storage card. It is also best to store information as interpreted text. Text-only notes take an average of 0.2K each, and the average Names card takes about 0.4K. Handwriting that is not converted uses a third again as many bytes. Another suggestion is to remove software applications that you rarely use and only reinstall them when you need to. To remove software applications: 1) Insert a storage card to copy the software onto. 2) Tap the Extras button, then tap Prefs. 4) Tap Memory. 5) Tap Remove Software and follow the instructions on the screen.
